"Nitram" is a gripping drama that delves into the events leading up to the 1996 Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania, without giving any platform to the shooter. The film does not unveil the name of the real shooter and does not depict the massacre itself. Instead, it focuses on exploring the life and psychological state of its central character, Nitram.

Making / Production

The director, Justin Kurzel, alongside screenwriter Shaun Grant, tread a sensitive path in order to treat the violent subject matter with restraint and respect. The result is a meticulously crafted study of isolation and despair. The film was eponymously produced by Good Thing Productions.
