About Overlord

Overlord released in 2015, is a Japanese anime series based on the light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. The plot centers around a player who finds himself trapped in a popular online game. However, unlike other gaming-based series, the player decides to remain inside the game and become its overlord.

Making / Production

The series was directed by Naoyuki Itou, scripted by Yukie Sugawara, and the music was by Shūji Katayama. Its first season aired from July to September 2015 and was followed by two additional seasons.

Actors

• Satoshi Hino voiced for the lead character, Ainz Ooal Gown/Momonga. He expertly plays a powerful protagonist handling a new world.
• Yumi Hara played Albedo, the main heroine who is deeply in love with Ainz. Her portrayal of intense and sometimes comic character is appreciable.
• Masayuki Katou voiced Demiurge, the strategic and scheming demon of the series.

Trivia / Interesting Facts

• The anime series entirely changes the main character, Ainz’s, facial expressions to signify his emotions, even though he is portrayed as a skeletal figure.
• The title 'Overlord' is a direct reference to the protagonist's character in the game.
