The Parent Trap is a 1961 American romantic comedy film directed by David Swift. The story revolves around two identical twin sisters, Susan and Sharon, separated at birth because of their parents' divorce, who later meet at a summer camp. They swap places in an attempt to reunite their parents and become a family again.

The movie was filmed in various locations in California, with the summer camp scenes shot at Bluff Lake Camp and the house of the mother filmed at 230 Ladera Drive, Beverly Hills. The screenplay, directed by David Swift, was based on the 1949 book "Lottie and Lisa" by Erich Kästner.
