Passengers is a 2016 American science fiction romance film directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts. Set on a spacecraft in the future, the film tells the story of two people who wake up 90 years too early from an induced hibernation.

The film delivers an exciting and whimsical story of Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) and Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) who unexpectedly wake up from their hibernation pods on the spaceship 'Avalon' which is travelling to the distant colony planet 'Homestead II'. Over time, they fall in love, only for Aurora to discover that Jim woke her up deliberately. As they grapple with this revelation, they find the ship is also malfunctioning and together they must save the remaining sleeping passengers.

The movie was produced by Stephen Hamel, Michael Maher, Ori Marmur, and Neal H. Moritz. Filming took place at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, and it utilized the largest soundstage ever built in the state of Georgia.
