About Princess Protection Program

Princess Protection Program is a 2009 Disney Channel Original Movie directed by Allison Liddi-Brown. The plot revolves around Princess Rosalinda Maria Montoya Fiore (Demi Lovato), who is about to be crowned queen of the small nation of Costa Luna. Her country is invaded by an evil dictator and Rosalinda's mother, the Queen, is arrested. To protect her, she's placed into the Princess Protection Program, a secret organization funded by royal families that looks after endangered princesses. Rosalinda is relocated and transformed into Rosie, a normal teen, and moved in with Carter Mason (Selena Gomez), a tomboyish teen from Louisiana.

The movie was shot primarily in Puerto Rico. It was co-written by Annie DeYoung and directed by Allison Liddi-Brown. The film's working title was "Royal Protection Program". It had a budget of $8.5 million and it was released on DVD later in the same year.
