About The Rage: Carrie 2 (HBO)

The Rage: Carrie 2 is a 1999 American supernatural horror film directed by Katt Shea. It is a sequel to the 1976 horror classic, Carrie, based on Stephen King's novel. The movie follows Rachel Lang, the outcast of her high school, who discovers she has developed psychic powers similar to Carrie White from the first film. The screen diverts to a tragic event when her only friend commits suicide and her powers turn fatal in response to football player's cruel prank.

Making / Production

The film was initially planned as an independent thriller without any connections to Carrie, but script changes tied it up to the original film. Directed by Katt Shea, it was produced by Paul Monash - the man behind the original 1976 Brian De Palma classic. Bruce Rubin provided additional rewrites to the original screenplay by Rafael Moreu.

Actors

  • Emily Bergl as Rachel, a high school outcast who discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Bergl's performance was praised for its intensity and empathy.
  • Jason London as Jesse Ryan, the popular high school football player who falls in love with Rachel. He portrays a multifaceted character torn between his friends and his love.
  • Amy Irving reprised the role of Sue Snell from the first Carrie film, working as a school counselor trying to help Rachel.

Trivia / Interesting Facts
