About RoboCop 2 (HBO)

RoboCop 2, released in 1990, is a science fiction film directed by Irvin Kershner and written by Frank Miller and Walon Green. The movie is a sequel to the 1987 film RoboCop and continues the story of a cyborg police officer in a dystopian future Detroit, now battling drug addiction and corporate corruption.

In the movie, RoboCop's programmers attempt to replicate his success by creating another cyborg using the brain of a deceased drug lord but the results are disastrous, and the city is plunged into chaos. It's up to RoboCop to rescue the city and defeat the new, evil cyborg.

Making / Production

The production of RoboCop 2 was under Orion Pictures, with a budget of approximately $35 million. Legend Irvin Kershner directed the movie, after the success of 'The Empire Strikes Back'. It was shot in Houston, Texas, doubling for a dystopian Detroit.

Actors

  • Peter Weller - As RoboCop / Alex Murphy. He resumed his role from the first film, bringing the cyborg character to life, he effectively combined human emotion and robotic rigidity.
  • Nancy Allen - As Officer Anne Lewis. She also reprised her role, providing strong support to RoboCop and showing vulnerability and strength in her performance.
  • Dan O'Herlihy - Played the role of The Old Man, ambitious and ruthless CEO of OCP. Providing a human face to the corporate selfishness, his performance was both chilling and humorous.
  • Tom Noonan - As Cain / RoboCop 2. His portrayal of the drug-addicted lunatic was both terrifying and formidable, providing a great antagonist for RoboCop.
