About Rosario + Vampire
"Rosario + Vampire" is a Japanese anime series that first aired in 2008. The story revolves around Tsukune Aono, a human boy who accidentally enrolls in a boarding school for monsters. He befriends and becomes romantically involved with Moka Akashiya, a vampire who enjoys his blood. However, Moka transforms into an aggressive, powerful vampire when the rosario cross around her neck is removed, leading Tsukune into dangerous situations.
Making / Production
The series was directed by Takayuki Inagaki, produced by Marvelous Entertainment and animated by Studio Gonzo and directed for television by Shigehito Takayanagi. The anime follows the storyline of the manga with some minor differences.
Actors
- Daisuke Kishio as Tsukune Aono exceled in portraying the character's anxiety and confusion as he navigates the monster world. His voice acting made Tsukune's character genuinely likable, despite his situation.
- Nana Mizuki played Moka Akashiya, capturing both aspects of her character brilliantly. She was sweet and kind in her normal state, but intense and powerful when her rosario was removed.
- Misato Fukuen brought Yukari Sendou to life, who is the youngest student in the school and a genius witch. Misato’s voice perfectly captured Yukari’s playful and mischievous nature.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
- The name 'Rosario' in the title 'Rosario + Vampire' refers to Moka's crucifix, which, when removed, sets her vampire nature free.
- Despite its ecchi nature, the anime series addresses some serious themes under its fun exterior, such as discrimination, acceptance, friendship, and love.
