About Smokey and the Bandit II
"Smokey and the Bandit II" is a 1980 action comedy film that serves as a sequel to the 1977 hit, "Smokey and the Bandit". The plot revolves around the return of those classic characters who lit up the first movie – The Bandit (Burt Reynolds), Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason), and Carrie (Sally Field). This time, they're united for a wild, cross-country adventure involving an elephant this time instead of a truckload of beer.
Making / Production
Hal Needham returned as director for this sequel. It employed much of the same tongue-in-cheek humor and car-chasing fun of the first movie, while giving a bigger spotlight to Jackie Gleason's popular character.
Actors
- Burt Reynolds as Bandit: As confident and charming as in the original, Reynolds once again puts on his cowboy hat and takes to the open road.
- Sally Field as Carrie 'Frog': Field again brings fun and sassiness in her role as Bandit's love interest and partner in crime.
- Jackie Gleason as Sheriff Buford T. Justice: Gleason reprises his hilarious role, bringing more comic flair and determination to catch the elusive Bandit.
- Jerry Reed as Cledus 'Snowman' Snow: Reed's character once again serves as Bandit's loyal sidekick and the truck-driving backbone to their operation.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
