About Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball

Released in 2009, Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball is a Canadian-American action crime film directed by P.J. Pesce. The film is a prequel to Joe Carnahan's 2007 film Smokin' Aces.

The plot revolves around Walter Weed, an unassuming desk jockey at the FBI, who becomes the target of a group of seasoned assassins. On the eve of his retirement, a $3 million bounty is put on his life without any stated reason. It's now up to Weed and his team to outwit and survive the eccentric lineup of hit men and women sent to kill him.

Produced by Mike Elliott, the film was shot both in the United States and Canada. Though it's a prequel, the film was released straight to video, and only loosely connects to its predecessor in terms of story and characters.

• Tom Berenger as Walter Weed: Berenger played the role of the unfortunate target with a sense of ordinary charm that was contrasted with his will to survive an extraordinary situation.
• Clayne Crawford as Agent Baker: Crawford portrays an FBI agent doing his utmost to protect Weed, establishing a determined character.
• Vinnie Jones as Finbar McTeague: Jones delivers a menacing yet comical performance as one of the eccentric assassins.
