Snow Buddies - Detailed Information

About Snow Buddies

"Snow Buddies" is a heartwarming Disney direct-to-video family film that was released in 2008. The movie, which is the second installment in the 'Air Buddies' series, centers around the Buddies - a group of adorable Golden Retriever pups including Rosebud, B-Dawg, Buddha, MudBud, and Budderball - who get trapped on an Alaskan ice truck and end up in the small village of Ferntiuktuk where they befriend Shasta, a Siberian Husky, and his boy owner, Adam. Shasta dreams of becoming a sled dog, the buddies decide to help Shasta and Adam take part in a big sled race.

Making / Production

Produced by Keystone Entertainment and released by Walt Disney Home Entertainment, the film's shooting was done in various snowy landscapes to give the movie a realistic Alaskan feel. Unfortunately, the production faced lamentable instances where a few puppies became sick during filming due to an outbreak of the Parvovirus.

Actors

  • Jimmy Bennett as Adam Bilson: Jimmy Bennett plays young Adam, who dreams of entering the sled race. His role is well-executed, and he empathically portrays Adam's love towards Shasta and his desire to fulfill his dream.
  • Kris Kristofferson as Shasta: Shasta, voiced by Kris Kristofferson, is a young Siberian Husky with the dream of becoming a lead sled dog. Kristofferson effectively brings Shasta's resolve and innocence to life.
  • John Kapelos as Jean George III: Portraying the dog-sledding race's unscrupulous defending champion, John Kapelos successfully adds an element of light villainy.
  • Mike Dopud as Sheriff Ryan: Dopud plays Sheriff Ryan, a steady and supportive character who keeps the village in check.
