About Soul
"Soul" is an animated feature film released in 2020. It was directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers. The movie revolves around a music teacher named Joe Gardner, who gets the break of his life but unfortunately finds his soul separated from his body. He then embarks on an exciting journey in a fantastical place to discover what it truly means to have a soul.
Making / Production
The film is produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Kemp Powers joined the project as co-director after initial development and became Pixar's first black co-director. The team took extensive research trips to New York City and also consulted various jazz musicians to accurately portray the film's setting and music.
