About Space Jam: A New Legacy

Space Jam: A New Legacy is a 2021 American animated sports comedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It's a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Space Jam. The film follows basketball superstar LeBron James who, trapped in a digital space by a rogue AI, must get them home safe by leading Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and others to victory over the AI's digitized champions on the court.

Making / Production

The film is produced by Ryan Coogler and LeBron James, along with several others, under the company logos of Warner Animation Group, Proximity Media and SpringHill Entertainment. The production process applied both animation and live action techniques, setting a unique vibe to the movie.

Actors

  • LeBron James: He plays a fictionalized version of himself. LeBron is portrayed as a caring family man who is accidentally thrown into an adventure with the Looney Tunes.
  • Don Cheadle: Plays Al-G Rhythm, the villainous rogue artificial intelligence. Cheadle brings comedic elements to the antagonistic character unlike any.
  • Khris Davis: He plays LeBron's friend, Malik. Davis embodies the supportive figure, adding depth and humor to the character.

  • This is the first theatrically-released film to feature the Looney Tunes characters since the release of Looney Tunes: Back in Action in 2003.
  • Unlike the original film, which was set during the 1995–96 NBA season, the sequel is set in the present day.
