About Space Jam: A New Legacy

Space Jam: A New Legacy, directed by Malcolm D. Lee and released in 2021, is a combination of live-action, animation and CGI. The film serves as a sequel to the 1996 film Space Jam and stars NBA superstar LeBron James. Jammed in a digital space by a rogue AI, LeBron must get them home safe by leading the Looney Tunes, including Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny and many others, to victory over the AI’s digitized champions on the court.

Making / Production

The film's production involved an extensive mix of graphics and live action, with animation work carried out by digital artist studios around the globe. James's basketball skills were highlighted in the film with the help of advanced CGI techniques. Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter conceived the idea along with Justin Lin.
