Spider-Man: Homecoming is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It follows Peter Parker, a teenager, who has started to settle into his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He tries to balance his everyday, normal life as a student in New York City and his superhero alter-ego. Things, however, start to go awry when a new villain known as Vulture emerges, and Peter must prove himself to be more than a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Making / Production

The film was directed by Jon Watts, produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. It was shot in various locations including Atlanta, Georgia and New York City. The filmmakers wanted to showcase a different side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe using the teenage perspective of Spider-Man.

Actors

• Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man: Tom delivered a highly praised performance portraying the youth, naivety, and determination of Parker.
• Michael Keaton as Vulture: Keaton’s performance was appreciated for the depth he added to the usual villain archetype. His character was a blue-collar worker turned to crime.
• Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man: Robert reprised his role as Stark, acting as a mentor figure for Spider-Man and incorporating his signature sarcastic wit.

• This was the first solo Spider-Man movie to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was nominated for several awards including the Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film. It also won the Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Best Family Film.
