Released in 1999, Stephen King's Storm of the Century is a horror mini-series that is set in the small island town of Little Tall, in Maine. The town falls prey to a violent snowstorm that cuts off its links with the outside world. As the townspeople battle nature's fury, they are surprised by the arrival of an enigmatic stranger. The stranger starts wreaking havoc in the serene town with a series of murders, bringing the worst kind of terror to the doorstep of the town residents. As the snow buries the streets and the storm suppresses the only sources of light, the town faces an unimaginable ordeal. The inhabitants are forced to make an unthinkable choice to ensure the safety of their children.

Stephen King's Storm of the Century was written directly for the screen by Stephen King. The original screenplay was converted into a miniseries directed by Craig R. Baxley and produced by Mark Carliner and Thomas Brodek. Despite the challenges posed by the weather-intensive setting, the production team managed to realistically portray a town in siege, both from a ruthless blizzard and a terrifying stranger.
