About Superjail!

Superjail! is an American television series produced by Augenblick Studios that first aired on Adult Swim in 2007. The series follows the events that take place in an unusual prison. The titular “Superjail” is a massive, fantastical penitentiary that houses some of the world’s most dangerous criminals. At the helm is the well-meaning but slightly unhinged Warden, whose imagination, eccentricities, and whimsy create a surreal, chaotic world for his inmates.

Making / Production

The show was created by Christy Karacas, Stephen Warbrick, and Ben Gruber. It was produced by Augenblick Studios and Williams Street, with animation handled by both Augenblick Studios and Titmouse, Inc. The animation style of the series is a fusion of 1970s-era psychedelic aesthetics and contemporary animation techniques, giving the show a distinctive visual style.
