About Switched at Birth

Switched at Birth is an American television series that premiered on the ABC Family network on June 6, 2011. The one-hour scripted drama revolves around two teenagers who were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Despite overwhelming socio-economic and ethnic differences, both families must learn to co-exist as parents and blend their lives for the sake of their daughters.

The show is based in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and was created by Lizzy Weiss. It was produced by ABC Studios, with Sean Reycraft as the supervising producer. The show has been praised for its inclusion of American Sign Language and for its portrayal of Deaf culture.
