"Sword Art Online -Alicization-" is a fascinating continuation of the popular Sword Art Online series. It is a TV series deeply set in a virtual world, taking us on an enigmatic journey where the line between reality and the virtual is blurred.

The protagonist Kirito, who is known for his expertise in virtual reality games, has found himself stuck in a mystical yet daunting virtual world. He suffers from muddled memories of his past before logging in and very little clue as to how he can make his exit. His quest for answers brings him to Gigas Cedar, a colossal tree under pitch darkness, where he comes across a boy named Eugeo. Despite being an NPC (Non-Player Character) of the virtual world, his emotional complexity is remarkably human.

Throughout the series, Kirito and Eugeo build a strong bond. As Kirito attempts to logout from the virtual world, he starts recalling a past that does not belong to him – a blonde young girl named Alice, running along the mountains with him and Eugeo as children. Finding who Alice is and why her memory resides in Kirito's mind turns into a crucial plotline.

Making / Production

The third season of this famous franchise, Sword Art Online -Alicization-, was released in 2018 by A-1 Pictures. The series was scripted by renowned writer Reki Kawahara. The return of Manabu Ono as director breathed life into the virtual world, whereas the character design was splendidly handled by Shingo Adachi. Yuki Kajiura's melodious soundtrack added depth to the story, building dramatic tension and euphoria.

Actors

• Yoshitsugu Matsuoka: Playing the lead character of Kirito, Matsuoka perfectly portrayed the confusion and determination of a man trapped in a virtual world.
• Nobunaga Shimazaki: As Eugeo, his performance brilliantly portrayed the emotions of a character who is supposedly an NPC.
