About Titanic (1997)

'Titanic' is a sweeping love story directed by James Cameron that is both intimate in detail and grand in scale. The romance blooms on the luxurious, ill-fated RMS Titanic between the beautiful, upper-class Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Kate Winslet), who is expected to marry consuming Caledon “Cal” Hockley (Billy Zane) and Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young, free-spirited artist, who has won a ticket onto the ship through a poker game. Their love story becomes a race for survival once the Titanic hits an iceberg on the fateful night of April 14, 1912.

Making / Production

The grandeur and authenticity of the ship and the period were brought to life by James Cameron and his production team, using blueprints of the original ship to recreate the Titanic. The film's special effects used both miniature models and computer graphics to depict the sinking. Shot on the Pacific Ocean, the filmmakers went to great lengths to ensure the film's historical accuracy.

Actors

  • Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson: He masterfully portrayed the carefree, hopelessly romantic Jack Dawson, whose love for Rose transcends the barriers of the Titanic's class system.
  • Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater: She played the role of the high-society Rose with grace and emotional depth, capturing her character's internal struggle beautifully.
  • Billy Zane as Cal Hockley: Zane effectively portrayed Rose's manipulative and ill-tempered fiancé, Cal Hockley.
