About Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy anime television series, adapted from the manga of the same name by Sui Ishida. Set in an alternate version of Tokyo, where ghouls, individuals who can only survive by eating human flesh, live among the typical human population in secret, the show follows Ken Kaneki, a 19-year-old student who becomes a half-ghoul after an encounter with Rize Kamishiro, his date who turns out to be a ghoul.

Making / Production

The series was produced by Pierrot and directed by Shuhei Morita, premiering on Tokyo MX between July and September 2014. It is divided into two seasons, the first named Tokyo Ghoul and the second called Tokyo Ghoul √A.

Actors

  • Natsuki Hanae as Ken Kaneki: He did a phenomenal job portraying the transition from a timid student to a resilient ghoul.
  • Sora Amamiya as Touka Kirishima: Amamiya delivered a brilliant performance as the risk-taking and strong willed ghoul.
  • Kana Hanazawa as Rize Kamishiro: Hanazawa's role as the seductive and undead Rize left a chilling impact.
