Top Chef is an American reality competition television series that premiered on March 8, 2006, on Bravo. In this show, aspiring chefs compete against each other in culinary challenges. The show is presented by Padma Lakshmi. The participants are judged by a panel of professional chefs and other food and wine industry notables with one or more contestants eliminated in each episode.

The show was produced by the company Magical Elves Productions, who also created Project Runway. The show's location varies each season, starting in San Francisco and moving to various other cities such as New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas, providing a diverse set of challenges and cuisines for the contestants to experience and grow from.
