Treasure of Matecumbe is a 1976 American adventure film directed by Vincent McEveety and produced by Walt Disney Productions. The movie was released on July 1, 1976. The story follows two young boys in the post-Civil War era who embark on a grand adventure to locate a buried fortune in Florida's Matecumbe Key.

Plot and Summary

The film is set post-American Civil War, where a young boy, Davie Burnie, believes that a treasure is buried somewhere in in Matecumbe, somewhere in the Florida keys. Joined by his friend Thad, ex-slave and Civil War Veteran, they set on a journey filled with adventure, overcoming obstacles and evading villains who are also after the treasure.

The film was produced by Ron W. Miller and directed by Vincent McEveety with the script written by Don Tait. The movie was adapted from Robert Lewis Taylor's novel "The Journey of Young Davie Burnie". The filming took place primarily in Kentucky and Florida.
