True Blood is an American television drama series produced and created by Alan Ball. It is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris, detailing the co-existence of vampires and humans in Bon Temps, a fictional, small town in the state of Louisiana. The series centers on Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a telepathic waitress living in the rural town who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).
Making / Production
Developed for television by Alan Ball, True Blood premiered on HBO in 2008 and ran for seven seasons until 2014. The series was filmed in and around Hollywood and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The creator Alan Ball had previously won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film "American Beauty."
