About Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time is a captivating American fantasy-adventure drama television series that premiered on ABC on October 23rd, 2011. The show was created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The series takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, whose residents are characters from various fairy tales transported to the "real world" town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse.
Making / Production
The show was created by Lost and Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The duo set out to craft a series where fairy tale characters could exist in the real world, resulting in a captivating production that intricately weaved fantasy and reality. The show was produced by ABC Studios and ran for total of seven seasons, ending in 2018.
Actors
- Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan - Morrison played the lead character, Emma, the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who is drawn to the town of Storybrooke to break the curse placed upon its inhabitants.
- Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills/The Evil Queen - Parrilla brilliantly portrayed the Evil Queen, who cast the original curse to gain her happy ending in the "real world" and also took on the role of Mayor Regina Mills.
- Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin - Carlyle took on the complex role of Mr. Gold, Storybrooke's pawnbroker and the devious Rumplestiltskin in the fairy tale world.
- Ginnifer Goodwin as Mary Margaret Blanchard/Snow White - Goodwin skilfully played the role of Mary Margaret, Storybrooke's beloved schoolteacher and her fairy tale counterpart Snow White.
Trivia / Interesting Facts
- The town of Storybrooke is actually filmed in Steveston, British Columbia.
- Regina's license plate reads "984-PCE," a reference to the original airdate of the Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (9/84/1937).
- Many episodes are references to the Disney versions of their respective fairy tales.
