About Vacation (HBO)

Vacation (2015) is a comedy film produced by New Line Cinema and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is both a sequel to and a reboot of the National Lampoon's Vacation film series. The plot focuses on Rusty Griswold, now an adult, who plans a cross-country trip with his wife and two sons to Walley World, similar to the trip he went on with his parents and sister in the original film (National Lampoon's Vacation).

Making / Production

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley directed the film, marking their directorial debuts. It was filmed in various locations across the United States including Atlanta, Georgia, and Plano, Texas.

Actors

  • Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold: The adult son of Clark and Ellen Griswold, who aims to bring his family closer together with a road trip to Walley World, much like his father did for him as a child. He delivered a quirky, funny, and sincere performance.
  • Christina Applegate as Debbie Griswold: Rusty's wife who has a past as a party girl and seeks a different vacation experience. She brought an engaging and relatable performance to her role.
  • Chris Hemsworth as Stone Crandall: An obnoxious and supercilious weatherman and Debbie's successful brother-in-law who exhibits traditional machismo. Hemsworth played against type to create an amusing character.
