About Down In The Valley

Released in 2005, "Down in the Valley" is a modern day western crime drama film written and directed by David Jacobson. It stars Edward Norton and Evan Rachel Wood. The film revolves around a delusional man, Harlan, who believes he is a cowboy living in the Old West. Following a chance encounter, he starts a risky relationship with a young girl, Tobe. Things start spiralling out of control, leading to a tense climax involving a deadly confrontation with Tobe's protective brother, Lonnie.

Making / Production

Down in The Valley was produced by Holly Wiersma and Edward Norton, under the banner of 'Class 5 Films', alongside Element Films. The film was beautifully shot on location in San Fernando Valley, to arguably highlight the disparity between Harlan's fantasies and the reality around him. Jacobson's direction coupled with Enrique Chediak's brilliant cinematography elevated the film's production value.
