"The War of the Gargantuas" is a 1966 Kaiju film produced by Toho, directed by Ishiro Honda. As a quasi-sequel to the movie "Frankenstein Conquers the World", this film portrays the story of two colossal and hairy humanoid creatures, named Gargantuas, that terrorize Japan.
Plot
The film begins with a giant octopus attacking a ship, which is then countered by a green Gargantua named Gaira, who ultimately devour the ship's survivors. The other, a brown Gargantua named Sanda, discovered in the Japanese Alps as a child, doesn't agree with Gaira's aggressive nature and cannibalistic tendencies, leading to a battle between the brothers.

"The War of the Gargantuas" was made under the direction of Ishiro Honda, a notable director in the Kaiju genre, and with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. The movie's notable aesthetic— the grotesque, hairy appearance of the Gargantuas— became iconic in the genre.
