About The Wave

"The Wave" is a Norwegian disaster film directed by Roar Uthaug. Released in 2015, the film is based on the rock slide at Norway's mountain Åkneset, projected to result in a devastating tsunami that could potentially annihilate the country's population. The plot revolves around the protagonist, geologist Kristian Eikjord, who predicts this impending disaster and his subsequent attempts to save his family and the townsfolk.

Making / Production

"The Wave" was produced by Martin Sundland and Are Heidenstrøm. It was shot in Geiranger and Oslo, with production starting in 2014. The film is inspired by true events from Norway's history, particularly the 1934 Tafjord rockslide.

Actors

• Kristoffer Joner played the lead role of Kristian Eikjord, a geologist who tries to save his family and townspeople from the disaster. He portrayed a loving and caring family man with a distinct intuitive understanding of nature realistically.
• Ane Dahl Torp was cast as Idun, Kristian's wife. She played her character's role brilliantly, becoming a pillar of strength even amidst chaos and uncertainty.
• Jonas Hoff Oftebro acted as Sondre - the couple's elder son. His realistic portrayal of a frightened yet brave teenager shone through the film.
