About The Wave
The Wave, released in 2015, is an apocalyptic disaster film directed by Roar Uthaug. The movie is a Norwegian-International co-production about a geologist who realises the fjord his town is located next to will experience an avalanche that will create a devastating tsunami. The film showcases raw survival instincts and the desperate struggle of the people to escape the impending disaster.
Making / Production
The film was developed by the Norwegian Film Institute, and Martin Sundland of Fantefilm. The Scandinavian Disaster Cinema was born out of a desire to show natural disaster possibilities in Norway due to geographic and climatic conditions. Principal photography was carried out in Geiranger and Oslo, Norway.
Actors
- Kristoffer Joner as Geologist Kristian Eikjord: A lead role where his character foresees the upcoming disaster. Joner showcases a strong performance as a humble family man thrown into an unimaginable situation.
- Ane Dahl Torp as Idun, Kristian's wife: Torp puts up a strong performance as she strives to protect her family from the catastrophic tsunami.
