"Whiteout", released in 2009, is a thriller movie based on the 1998 comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. The movie takes place in Antarctica, where only the hardy can survive. It revolves around the lead character, U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) who is investigating Antarctica's first murder. With only three days left until the continent is plunged into darkness for six months, she must catch the killer before the whiteout overtakes everything.

Making / Production

The film was directed by Dominic Sena and produced by Joel Silver, Susan Downey, and David Gambino. Filming for "Whiteout" completed in Montreal and Manitoba, Canada though the story is set in Antarctica. The chilling and frosty environment portrayed in the movie was well received and it's a proof of the remarkable work done by the production team.

Actors

• Kate Beckinsale played the role of U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko. Beckinsale convincingly portrays a tough character who deals with Antarctica's unforgiving environment and a high-pressure investigation.
• Tom Skerritt, as Dr. John Fury, brings his usual gravitas to the role of a friendly physician.
• Gabriel Macht played Robert Pryce, a UN operative. With a mysterious character, Macht added an element of uncertainty and suspense to the plot.
