About Wild Mountain Thyme

Wild Mountain Thyme, a 2020 film, explores the romantic lives of star-crossed lovers Rosemary Muldoon and Anthony Reilly on adjacent farms in rural Ireland. Rosemary has been hopelessly in love with her strange neighbor, Anthony, since childhood. As the years pass, Rosemary becomes more and more anxious as Anthony remains oblivious of her feelings. Their romantic web further entangles when Anthony’s father threatens to leave their family farm to his American nephew rather than to Anthony, which spurs Rosemary and Anthony’s romance.

Making / Production

Wild Mountain Thyme was adapted from the 2014 Broadway play 'Outside Mullingar' both written and directed by John Patrick Shanley. The film was produced by Leslie Urdang, Anthony Bregman, Alex Witchel, Martina Niland, and Michael A. Helfant, with a screenplay by Shanley himself. This romantic drama was filmed in the glorious landscapes of Ireland, capturing the essence of the Irish countryside.

Actors

  • Emily Blunt as Rosemary Muldoon: Emily brings life to Rosemary’s character with her charming performance. She portrays a strong-willed, independent woman who isn't afraid to reach for what she determinedly wants - in this case, Anthony's love.
  • Jamie Dornan as Anthony Reilly: Dornan’s portrayal of Anthony is both heart-touching and thought-provoking. He convincingly depicts Anthony’s eccentricities and indecisiveness towards Rosemary's outright affection for him.
  • Jon Hamm as Adam: Hamm plays the character of Adam, the American cousin, introducing an unexpected twist and competition into the love saga between Rosemary and Anthony.
  • Christopher Walken as Tony Reilly: Walken plays the role of Anthony's father, Tony, whose unexpected decision creates the base for unfolding of the plot. His performance as the stubborn yet loving father is poignant.
