"Wonder Woman 1984" is a superhero movie that was released in 2020. The film is a sequel to the 2017's Wonder Woman and is the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The plot is set during the Cold War and follows Diana Prince/Wonder Woman as she faces off against formidable foes Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah while reuniting with her past love, Steve Trevor.
Making/Production
The film is directed by Patty Jenkins, who co-wrote the screenplay with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham. It was produced by DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, The Stone Quarry, and Mad Ghost Productions. Despite facing multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was released in select theaters and through streaming on HBO Max in December 2020.
