X-Men: First Class was released in 2011. This is a highly praised prequel of the X-Men series that traces the beginning of the X-Men saga. This prequel reveals a secret history of famous global events, where the first generation of mutants were just discovering their powers, forming an unbreakable bond to prevent nuclear Armageddon.

Actors

• James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier. McAvoy plays a young Xavier who is feeling his way into the role of a leader and mentor.
• Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto. Fassbender portrays Magneto in his younger, more volatile days.
• Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkhölme / Mystique. Lawrence shows us the early days of Mystique, a time before her full transformation into villainy.
• Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy / Beast. Hoult plays a young and somewhat naive Beast, struggling with his transformation.

Trivia / Interesting Facts

• It’s the first X-Men film to be shot in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, unlike previous films which were filmed in 2.40:1.
• Rebecca Romijn, who portrayed the older Mystique in the original X-Men trilogy, has an uncredited cameo as the older version of Mystique in this film.
• Hugh Jackman also has an uncensored cameo, reprising his role as Wolverine.
