"Zombieland: Double Tap" is a high-energy sequel to the 2009 hit, Zombieland. Released in 2019, the movie revisits the post-apocalyptic world hectored by the undead. Reuniting the original cast, this movie offers a new line of adventures, bizarro doppelgangers, and a trek across wastelands of the United States.

Making / Production

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, with a screenplay from Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and David Callaham, Zombieland: Double Tap continues the unique blend of comedy and horror introduced in the first movie. The team spent ten years to bring the sequel with more creativity, and to retain the humor and chills that the audience loved in the initial version.

• Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee - The cowboy-hat loving killer of the undead, Harrelson excellently reprises his iconic role with comic timing and dramatic flair.
• Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus - Playing the geeky, rule-obsessed survivor, Eisenberg brings charm and quirkiness that is equal parts endearing and hilarious.
• Emma Stone as Wichita - Stone returns in her role as the tough and sassy Wichita with a performance that's equally comical and badass.
• Abigail Breslin as Little Rock - Breslin’s character has grown into a teenager seeking independence, she communicates her character's longing for socialization convincingly.
• Zoey Deutch as Madison - New to the Zombieland ensemble, Deutch plays the ditsy blonde, who amuses with her inherent hilarity.

Trivia / Interesting Facts

• The movie was released 10 years after the original Zombieland movie, essentially real-time for the characters.
• The ice cream truck shown in the beginning is an homage to director Fleischer's first movie, "Clown" (2007).
• All the main characters continue to be named after the native places they were born or lived in.

Awards

Apart from the audience's acclaim, Zombieland: Double Tap was also appreciated at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards, where it was nominated for 'Best Horror Film.'
