About Zootopia

Zootopia is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie is set in a city inhabited by anthropomorphic animals who live in harmony, regardless of species. The story revolves around a rabbit named Judy Hopps who fulfills her dream of becoming a police officer in Zootopia, the city where prey and predators coexist peacefully. She teams up with a sly fox named Nick Wilde, owing to an unexpected conspiracy, to uncover a sinister plot that puts the inhabitants of the city at risk.

Making / Production

Zootopia took about five years to make. The concept originated with Byron Howard who was inspired by Disney's Robin Hood, which led to the focus on anthropomorphic animals. An astonishing amount of research was done by the production team to create a believable world including a trip to Kenya to study animal behavior and movement. Even the film’s environment was meticulously planned with individual boroughs in Zootopia designed to mimic the animals' natural habitats.

Actors

  • Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps: A determined rabbit who fulfilled her dream of being a police officer despite being underestimated due to her petite size.
