About Assassination Classroom
"Assassination Classroom" is a Japanese anime series adapted from Yūsei Matsui's manga of the same name. It was first aired in 2015. The narrative takes place at Kunugigaoka Junior High School, where the students of class 3-E are tasked with assassinating their alien teacher named Koro-sensei before he destroys Earth.
Making / Production
The series is produced by Lerche, a Japanese animation studio, and directed by Seiji Kishi. The anime series lasted two seasons, with a total of 47 episodes. It covered over 180 chapters of the manga, staying pretty true to the original content with some additional scenes and plot points for the anime.
Actors
- Jun Fukuyama as Koro-sensei: The tentacled alien teacher who encourages his students to assassinate him whilst providing them with a nurturing learning environment.
- Mai Fuchigami as Nagisa Shiota: A student in Class 3-E who plays a pivotal role in the class's assassination attempts on Koro-sensei.
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Karma Akabane: Known as one of the most intelligent and rebellious students in Class 3-E, Karma is the first to inflict any kind of harm on Koro-sensei.

- The idea for Koro-sensei's character design came from the famous octopus balls dish, Takoyaki - a popular food in Japan.
- Although the theme of the series is about assassination and violence, the anime is also filled with important life lessons.

The series was nominated for the 7th Manga Taishō Awards in 2014. In the 37th Kodansha Manga Award for the Shōnen category, it came out as a Best Seller.
